Hi, today i am giving a tutorial on PEN TOOL , which i think is the best tool in photoshop to create grand shapes and objects. A basic intro about Pen Tool which will help your understand its flow which is important before you create any shape.


1. Open a new file of any size as per your requirement

2. Select pen tool from your tool bar menu. First i am gona give you a lil know how that how pen tool actually flows, what are the handles , points and curves. Once pen tool is selected hold down SHIFT KEY, LEFT click on your page and drag the mouse upward direction same as in 2b.. Now the LINES that came out of the POINT are called HANDLES and you have just moved one handle in upward direction.

3. now once you have dragged the first handle upward in same direction of point one draw a second point at lil distance like i did and click n drag the handle DOWNWARD this time same like mine. You can see that your have now made a first curve here that’s good! now it is time to place 3rd point.

4. again click on the page for a next point and drag the handle upward and you have drawn your second curve now remember i have not deselected my path.. talking of path well path is another method used to create selection in Photoshop for now let’s add last point.

5. Place a point same like previous steps this will be the 4th point you are adding. Click and drag the handle down word and here is your 3rd curve. We are done with the curves, points and handles.

6. Now if you check the presentation in the image you will clearly understand how the handles, points and curves acted.
if not let me guide you. When you draw your handle out upward your curve will move up and opposite when you drag a handle downward same as i have explained in the image. Also note that the curve is 1/3 of a handle always..
the longer your handle is the bigger your curve will be.

Try different ways to draw lines and curve and you will learn the core of pen tool cause what i explained is the basic which you must know before using a PEN TOOL
